This isn’t intended to be a critique of films that I’ve seen, more of an exhibition of my love for film; in its most diverse form.
#AStarIsBorn : for the first hour, ‘A Star Is Born’ captures the exhilaration of new love and the fear factor of stardom vulnerability. @ladygaga performs well and is the films best asset. Verdict: ****
#venom : a sloppy script and formulaic plot results in a film which doesn’t know if it’s an action film or a comedy. Verdict: feels like a midnight horror that’s invaded a superhero film. Verdict: **
#Mile22 : this is a hurricane of fists, feet and blood... Lots of blood. It feels a little rushed and leaves you thinking that this is an OK action thriller that lacks decent narrative and story. Verdict: **.5
#ASimpleFavour : a twisty psychological thriller - with some humorous moments , but what we basically get left with here is a predictable version of #gonegirl ..
#Equalizer2 : “the sequalizer” is ridiculous, bloated and (at times) a little bland. It’s almost as punishing to the audience as McCall is to his targets. Verdict: However, Denzil is Denzil, making the meaningless look (slightly) meaningful **.5
#BlacKkKlansman : visionary director Spike Lee uses history as commentary on current events. A masterful combination of “I’m going to make you laugh and feel really uneasy”. Verdict: a sobering, yet entertaining film. ****.5
#KingOfThieves :based on an incredible story of the Hatton Garden diamond heist .However,a weak script and poor characterisation means that this film won’t pick the lock to your heart.Verdict:If you want to watch a film about this story, watch The Hatton Garden Job instead. **
#TheMeg : #JasonStatham is left all at sea in this shark (Megalodon) b-movie feature. However, it does lack the bite of similar films. Verdict: Worth biting in to 🦈 **.5
